Welcome to the weather report page.  This is based on a garden thermometer and rain gauge in the editor's garden, and so are not scientific measurements.

Annual Summary

January saw a cold start to the year with 17 frost days including some snow falling on 5-7, 9-10 and 13th January. However overall it was a dry month.  February by contrast was very wet - it rained on 24 of the 28 days, and the total rainfall of 3½ inches was nearly 3 times the average for the month.

February was a very wet month with it raining on all but 4 days in the month.  Unsurprisingly the total rainfall was 2½ times the seasonal average.  However since then only June (just) has exceeded the seasonal average of rain, so by the end of July we had only 90% of the rain we would have expected by then.  June's figure for rainfall was certainly helped by the wettest day of the year on the 6th when 1.35 inches of rain fell.  However a very wet August and October brought rainfall above average, August even managed to beat the heavy rainfall of February.

As well as being dry, July was also a hot month with the thermometer hitting 90 degrees on the 9th.  The coldest day following January was 8th March, which was also the last frost day of winter.  Temperature wise the year looks like hitting the long term average of 51.8°F.

December was a snowy and an exceptionally cold month, for 20 days the mercury dropped below freezing and the month's average temperature was only 33°F.  This had the effect of dragging the annual average to a below average 49.7°F.  The snow began on 29th November and lay on the ground for a long time.
