15 March 2023 - Longfield pharmacist says the sector risks closures due to rising costs
Owner of Hodgson Pharmacy explains the pressure chemists are under.  His firm, he says, made its first loss in 2020 due to 30% government funding cuts since 2016.  There's no way chemists can do all the extra things government wants them to do with things as they are now.

21 April 2023 - Travellers pitch up in Hartley village after leaving Swanley
After being moved on from Swanley, a small group of travellers moved to Hoselands Green, Hartley.  The paper further reports on 25.4.23 that after being moved on by the police they went a few hundred yards to the Woodland Avenue Park.  Another report on 27.4.23 said the parish council had obtained a court order to move them on.  They also reported of allegations of anti-social behaviour.  They are said to have left the site about 5pm on 28 April (DM 29.4.23).  Council workers were seen picking up rubbish.  It is believed they have moved to Gravesend or Gillingham.  Councils have new powers to deal with unauthorised encampments, but it seems the root cause of the problem, a lack of gypsy sites in Kent, has not been addressed.
