The Warrens (1) north side opposite the Church Hall; (2) south-east side
The Warrens is a small cul-de-sac of houses and bungalows, carved out of the back garden of The Red House, Ash Road. The land was acquired by Dartford building firm Brewster Estates in 1959, with most of the houses being built in 1961.
However there are exceptions which were built later:
- Ironsides and Dormans, built by Foven Construction Company Ltd in 1966 on land formerly belonging to the Rectory
- Fidra which was also built by Brewster Estates in 1970, at the same time as the firm was developing Carmelite Way behind it; and
- Melford Lodge, built on part of the back garden of Plympton in 1984.
On much of the south side of the road is the Church Hall, which was built on part of the site of the former rectory (1 St John's Lane). Sometimes the residents of the Warrens are unhappy with visitors to the Hall parking in their road, but it must be said the Hall was built first, and hirers are told to park considerately.
Historically most of the road would have been part of Fairby Farm, but a small part of some people's back gardens fell in Blue House Farm (now Mintmakers, Church Road).
The Warrens, modern map (colour houses) over 1955 map (black houses), The Red House is on the corner of the entrance to the road
