09 January 2023 - Parish Council: Councillors
All councillors except Cllr Alford were in attendance as well as Cllr David Brazier (KCC).  Cllr Brazier said the county council had balanced the budget but more cuts were on the way including 38 childrens centres (one being at New Ash Green), possibly some libraries, and reductions in repair to potholes.  Meeting ran from 7.30 - 8.26pm

Cllr Perry Cole said 460 people from Hartley were helped in the Christmas/New Year period.  Three-quarters of them still require assistance.

Parish council approved recommendations from meeting of 14 December.  They also voted to raise the precept by 16.3% from £138,000 to £160,000.  This will mean more detailed reporting of expenditure under government regulations.

Cllr Perry Cole reported on a £450,000 fund run by Kent County Council for local bodies to run schemes to help those who have difficulty accessing public transport.  Parish Council in favour in principle.

Payments of £11,000 for January were agreed.  This included £1,653 for 60% of the cost of the new website.  £331 for data backup services.

27 January 2023 - Teacher at Langafel Primary School, Longfield, to shave her hair off in bid to get £15k for therapeutic swing room
Room at Specialist Resource Unit will help special needs children "self-regulate, improve their balance and develop important motor skills, and calm them down."

Cllr Perry Cole said he had rushed through a grant application to meet the deadline.  He had also received 95 replies to a questionnaire he had circulated.  The cost of hiring a minibus is about £500 per month.  A scheme to share the bus with New Ash Green and use volunteer drivers was discussed.
