04 May 2023 - District Council Results
Hartley bucked the national trend where the Conservatives increased their already large majority. The Conservatives also took the last Labour seat in Swanley (although they were probably only prevented in 2019 by UKIP and BNP running candidates there then). However elsewhere things did not entirely go their way. They lost all seats in Sevenoaks Town to the Liberal Democrats and the Greens swept the board in New Ash Green. It seems the effects of the referendum are still evident, Conservatives gain leave voting Swanley but in turn lost remain voting Sevenoaks.

Overall results: Cons 33 (-13), Libdem 14 (+11), Green 4 (+4), Ind 3 (-1), Lab 0 (-1)

Hartley and Hodsoll Street Ward:
Larry Abraham (Cons) 1,066
Penny Cole (Cons) 1,055
Perry Cole (Cons) 1,041
Mark Chang (Green) 381
Mike Young (Green) 381
Richard Cobbold (Green) 374
Cons 74.1% (+2.2%) Green 25.9% (-2.2%)

04 May 2023 - Lack of Candidates for Parish Councils
There were no elections locally. In Hartley there were only 12 candidates for 13 seats, in Fawkham 4 candidates for 6 seats, in Ash 8 candidates for 15 seats, in Longfield 8 candidates for 12 seats.

In Hartley the only candidates were from the "Putting Hartley First" grouping and I think all are existing councillors re-elected - Larry Abraham, Penny Cole, Perry Cole, James Colwell, Lesley Driscoll, Lawrence Glander, David Graeme, Mally Malham, Anne Oxtoby, Brian Ramsay, Ian Ross, Vince Sewell.
