Woodland Survey 1949
National Archives reference TNA/F/22/196
Since 1924 the Forestry Commission has conducted regular surveys of private woodland. Pre-war data does not exist for Kent. A post war survey was deemed necessary because of the large losses due the needs of the war economy. There is a plan attached to the survey showing the exact location of the woods, but this is copyright.
This table is a detailed description of woodland in Hartley at the time. The main losses since then have been further parts of Gorsewood and Hoselands Wood.
