In general car ownership is considerably higher in our area when compared with Kent or England as a whole. This can be attributed to lower deprivation levels for most of the district, and generally poor public transport links. It is notable that Longfield village with the best transport links is the area closest to the national average.

Most popular cars in DA3 postcode area in 2017
What are the most popular makes of car locally? The answer is supplied via a freedom of information request to the DVLA. They have kindly supplied a list of every on road make for the DA3 7 and DA3 8 postcode districts, that is Longfield, Hartley and New Ash Green.
Listed below are the top 50 makes for the Longfield/Hartley/New Ash Green area with the national ranking in 2017 the first number in brackets. The number in brackets at the end after the make is the number of on-road cars of that make registered locally. In general the results are similar, but a few makes are a lot more popular locally e.g. Land Rover, Range Rover, Nissan Micra, Jaguar Xf.
Overall 10,876 cars, 1,001 light goods vehicles, 521 motorbikes, 86 HGVs and 21 buses are registered in the DA3 7/8 area. By far the most popular LGV was the Ford Transit with nearly a quarter of all such vehicles.
